Grey
Gables Manor is an impressive, 11,000 sq. ft. grey stucco building built in
1911 by wealthy lumber baron, A. E. Dunlop. The style was a modern take on the
classic Tudor architecture and named "stock-broker Tudor". Grey Gables remained
in the Dunlop family until the forties. In 2004 Grey Gables was
converted into a Bed & Breakfast. Most bedrooms are self-contained suites
with a master bedroom, a sitting room/living room, kitchen, bathroom and private
entrance. The grand hallway is famous in town because of its oak
wainscoted walls, two storey leaded glass windows and impressive carved
staircase. Pressed tin ceilings run throughout the home and the rooms are
saturated in beautiful colours and fabrics. Grey Gables provides a quiet,
comfortably elegant stay for the discriminating traveler.
