Grey
Gables Manor is an imposing, 11,000 sq. ft. grey stucco building built in
1911 by wealthy lumber baron, A. E. Dunlop. The style was a modern take on the
classic Tudor architecture and named "stock-broker Tudor". Grey Gables remained
in the Dunlop family until the forties when it was purchased by the Remus
family of Pembroke and converted into 10 apartments. Grey Gables went through a
few other owners but remained an apartment building for 6 decades until it was
purchased in May of 2003 by interior decorator, Lisa Harding.
It
took over a year to complete the renovations and Grey Gables Inn opened for business in June of 2004. This is no ordinary bed &
breakfast, as each bedroom is actually a self-contained suite with a master
bedroom, a sitting room/living room, kitchen, bathroom, and private entrance.
Grey Gables provides a quiet, comfortably elegant stay for the discriminating
traveler.
